Jo Ann Carlock, 74, of Du Quoin, passed away at 12:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 8, 2005 at her residence.
Jo Ann was a homemaker.  She had been a beautician, owning her own shop in her home.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Du Quoin and a member of the Euzelian Sunday School Class.
She was born June 14, 1930 at Du Quoin, IL, the daughter of James F. and Charity Ione (Patton) Alvis.
She married William L. Carlock on August 17, 1946 at Du Quoin, IL and he preceded her in death on July 1, 2001.
She is survived by one daughter - Billie Jo Shepard and husband Wayne of Du Quoin, one son - John Wayne Carlock and wife Lorna of Memphis, TN, her mother - Charity I. Alvis of Du Quoin, one sister - Effie Jane Gauch of Elkville, seven grandchildren - Teresa Craig and husband Lance, Timothy Shepard and wife Erica, Tracy Robbins and husband Cory, Kristina Ackerman and husband Chris, Janie Stafford and husband Chris, Charity Rochelle and husband Ryan, and Jonathan Holder, and nine great grandchildren - Jessica and Jacob Craig, Brendon and Ethan Shepard, Kegan and Conner Robbins, Jacob and Sidney Ackerman and Zoe Rochelle.
She was preceded in death by her father, husband, three brothers - Jimmy, Jack and Tom, two sisters - Patsy Rodely and Wilma Ruth Alvis and one great grandson - Timothy Logan Shepard.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M., Friday, March 11, 2005 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Ted Clark officiating.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 P.M., Thursday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Interment will be in the Sunset Memorial Park at Du Quoin.
Friends may make memorials to the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society or Luke Memorial Hospice and will be accepted at the funeral home.
